Job security
I would like to say that the experience has been good being a venue staff. But being in the customer service team it has been more experiences after another, learning and trainings.
Currently trainings have been going on to improve the level of the customer service experience and how we can put them to good use with our customers.

Brilliant culture, purpose and mission - I loved working there.
I really valued working at the British Council - it gave me opportunities to work with some of the most incredible content and teams to create a global literacy program together with Barclays Premier League Footballers. Teaching in high tech digital classrooms also gave me some great field experience of best practice education.

An enjoyable workplace
My job at British Council was a part-time weekend job. I only worked on Saturday leading a team of seven invigilators. We worked well together. The Management Team was quick making change and listened to staff's feedback about their jobs. That was what I really appreciated. We had a flat management structure so opinions came up quickly and solutions came down quickly. Everyone knew everyone else. it was great.
The hardest part of the job was you had, as a proctor/ invigilator, to be strict to ensure that rules were observed and cheating prevented to ensure the security, reliability and validity of the exam.
The great thing was we made a great team and we had a year-end party every year.
Prosflexibility in terms of schedule
Consnot many hours a month

a place where you can gain a lot of experience
Everyday at work we do the following
- Arranging for the exam
- preparing sitting plans for the exam
- reading rules to the students
- reporting any problems to the supervisors
- Inspecting students during exams
I learned to be efficient and punctual.
I liked my co-workers and enjoyed working in a group

Very recommended because the environment is conducive and friendly.
We have to start off very early. our clients are the candidates who mostly take the exams at the British Council, We have to undertake all the processes of the exams until its completion without further breaks including even Lunch break. Sometimes we work under pressure to meet our deadlines. Lately, the management has no incentives especially for the workers who are in contracts. The most enjoyable part of the job on my part is meeting new people every day and socializing.
Prosfree extra hour any day working.
Consno working if no jobs in exams

Nice place to work at
very challenging and full of innovation plans. The main issue is with with the work life balance and the compensation which is considered very low compared to similar organizations and the work load.

Fast-paced yet very learning
It was fast-paced yet very learning and informative for young persons looking for international platforms. The management in BC is very efficient and effective and I appreciate the environment of it and would always like to recommend to other qualified young persons to join it. Actually I already recommended many qualified friends to join and enjoy it.

Productive and fun work place
* A typical day at work starts with ease most of the times and ends well , there are 3-4 days at work when it gets hectic but due to suportive co-workers it turns out to be comfortable and easy to manage with.
* Learned patience .
* Its a fun work place with supportive management .
Not all about the numbers but how you personally grow and develop.
Decent amount of red tape and politics, but this is expected of a big company. The most enjoyable part of the job was working alongside my colleagues and learning from them. The office started to get crowded as the company grew.

Highly Productive Environment
The British Council is a cultural relations non profit UK organization that focuses mainly on establishing relationships with African countries and the UK by means of projects, arts and english and society.
It is a great organization to work for as it is a internationally established organization. we work under a nice envirnoment in a open plan office with minimal supervision.
I currently work in the Resources department with the following management structure - Country Director, Compliance Manager, Operations Manager, Business Support Service and Development Officers, Assistance and Office Driver. Management is ok at the British Council however it does need a lot of improvement.
There are many challenges in my job consibering that i provide support to the whole directorate however i would say the greatest part of my job would be lack of support from management where needed.
I enjoy my job very much, however i have reached a point where u feel i can not grow any further and i need personal growth, new chalenges and an increase in financial strength.
ProsFree phone, and mobile phone, flexible hours and laidback environment
Conslittle pay and not very well groomed management
