Overall Reviews at Bon Appetit

I had a great DM who gave me a lot of leeway to run "my own" cafe
Excellent benefits and Excellent Pay and Excellent flexibility re: time off requests,
I built a strong team of associates who all participated in high standards of safety, food quality, sanitation and guest relations,
I had a very unique corporate account - the best in the company I'd say so I had the opportunity to visit many other accounts in the SE region and saw the same concern for consistency in standards.
Proslunch and uniforms paid for except safety shoes, competitive pay. excellent benefits, mine was a mon - fri scheduled account with days only

Great company with passion and opportunity.
I was hired as culinary director at a very financially troubled account. The main office and local management were very supportive and hence as a team were able to get the account going in the right direction. Unfortunately I was over promoted into an RDM position at an account that was poorly sold. It did not work out, but I do have fond memories and an overall very positive attitude about the company. They are the best out there for quality.
ProsVery exciting and passionate.

Good starting place
Good place to start a job if you work in the field. Recommendation to use this job to platform the rest of your career as there are little opportunities of advancement
Prosfree lunces

beautiful campus cafe
Working at the Bon Appetit Cafe at Genentech was excellent and I really do kick myself for leaving, The new manager was bent to make a name for himself at any expense and at the time he focused on me and I let him get to me. I wish I had been tougher..any way looking back this cafe was light years ahead of most places as far as cleanliness and state of the art appliances and up keep, just a beautiful facility, to bad the management was selfish to busy , not really caring about us on a personal level. ...hard to work for no advancement
ProsInsurance paid meals, lots of vacation time, 2 -3 weeks at Christmas
Conslots of time off, prepare for it. cutthroat managers

a very good workplace
the day would start with prepping for breakfast, then after that prepared pastries for breakfast and lunch. i learned how to make items on a larger scale, management was very good and helpful. The Hardest part would be how fast you would have to adapt to the workplace. THe most enjoyable thing was the co workers.
Prosfull time work and free food

Muy buena empresa para trabajar solo que estaba muy lejos de mi casa aun en coche.

I owned this company
Being a business owner, Personal Chef, and Caterer is a grueling job balancing everything as a "One woman show". Sometimes 7 days a week, did my own marketing and all food prep. I learned that I wanted to get a more secure, salaried job with the experience I learned
ProsIndependence
ConsLong hours, very hard work

You'll learn fast
If you want to learn fast, this is the place. It is fast paced. However, they have it together with regard to finding and getting the information and support you need for your job.
ProsYou do get free lunch (one free meal a day)
ConsYou need to set your own work/life balance. They won't help you.

productive, fast paced, dynamic place to work
They specialize in cafes located inside many tech companies, institutions of higher learning, hospitals & senior living facilities.
The work is either catering events, Front of the House cafe service or kitchen prep. The accounts are always productive, fast paced and dynamic place to work.
Most of the jobs are not working nights, weekends or holidays and they provide health and paid time off and sick time to full time employees. This is a huge change of pace from typical restaurant server or kitchen jobs.
Prospaid time off, health benefits and life insurance
Consshort breaks, fast paced and you will work on your feet all day

Its just a job
I do not like the way Management minimizes its employees. I have also witnessed instances of harassment and improper conduct. I have also seen and personally experienced veiled discrimination.
