Overview

We are a leading law firm with offices in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Our attorneys have been practicing for over 20 years and we provide legal services to clients throughout the United States. As an attorney at our firm, you will be responsible for representing clients on matters that affect their personal lives or those of others who may be affected by them. You will also assist other attorneys.

Duties

The associate attorney will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of legal documents, including but not limited to: motions and briefs; discovery proceedings; trial hearings; briefings. This position is located at the Washington State Bar (Washington D.C) office with an emphasis on litigation matters related specifically to immigration law. In addition, this attorney must have experience working as part-time or full time attorneys within the state bar. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Detailed job duties include:

  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefings and discovery requests.
  • Prepare case reports for trial; prepare written testimony on cases in court or before the Court of Appeal.
  • Conduct research to determine facts that may be relevant to litigation matters as well provide advice regarding issues related with civil rights/equity law.
  • Assist attorneys with filing claims against clients by reviewing evidence from various sources such: factual information, medical records, etc.

Qualification

  • Juris doctorate degree in law, business administration or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience as a lawyer with an emphasis on commercial litigation and/or intellectual property matters; including trial preparations for state and federal courts (including the ability to obtain licenses)
  • Experience working with complex legal issues is preferred but not required
  • Must be willing to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to perform research into various legal topics such that are relevant to your area of expertise
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective time management
