Supervisors don't care about employees.
Everything they buy is cheap. Management is a joke and there is no room for advancement at either Rancho or Redlands divisions. Supervisors are two faced and the morale is non existent.
ProsExperience
ConsNon flexible hours, poor pay, cheap equipment

Fellow Employees make the job
Most everyone at the company are awesome people, work is fun if you make it be that way. Management often doesn't talk to you as a human being. Patients tend to be super pleasant. I love my job, I love coming to work everyday, but its really the employees and patients make it that way. To management, your just a number on the payroll.

Management problems
District ops manager does not care about his people treats everyone like he doesn’t need you and you are all expendable. Too many people are severely depressed working there because the morale is so bad.
ProsGood benefits
ConsBad management

EMS Company
Loved my job, Loved what I did. Management is horrific. If Management were to change I would go back to work for AMR in a heartbeat. This is a perfect example of why the company gets a bad reputation, bad management.

Great place to learn
Enjoyed the experience of learning the medical industry. The hardest part was not being able to have more time for training. Outsourcing was the worse of this employer.

Great place to work, but lousy in taking care of its employees
Working in this industry has its pro's and con's. The pro's are the autonomy that we get while in the field. We are in charge and have no one looking over our shoulder as we provide medical care. AMR is a for profit company, so the patients well being, or treatment is secondary to the paramedics and EMTS in the field obtaining insurance information. Now as it stands, they are a for profit private ambulance company and need to make money for the stock holders, but not at the expense and morale of the work force. We are expendable and treated as such. The main thing to do while working this job, or any job for that matter, is to focus on why were are doing this job in the first place. Focus on good customer service and treatment rather than getting reimbursed for a transport. Compassion goes a long way in this job, and so does stress. AMR has truly dropped the ball in taking care of its own. Money is the driving factor for AMR.

Great job to earn medical experience
As an EMT at AMR, I was able to achieve 1000 hours of paid clinical experience. I was also given opportunities to train and teach. The staff is very personable and managers and supervisors were great.
