Good employer
Mostly happy with AHS. Lots of shifts available. Lines could be more varied and it would be nice to have more flexibility with swapping shifts and having vacation approved.

Good place to work.
I worked in Alberta Health Services for approximately a total of 14 years starting with the Peace Health Region, then Captial Health Region, Alberta Cancer Board and Public Health.

Grow.
Its an amazing place to work at if you are not a leader. If you are someone that is a leader, creative and want to always grow in life it isn't the place for you. There are too many policies and procedures in place that wont allow you to grow or learn new things without making mistakes.

Typical public sector position
-remote work permanently for current Covid-related position, doesn't appear to be any opportunities for growth with the organization.
-compensated well for the job duties
Pros-permanent work from home flexibility
Cons-lack of engagement from management, questionable policy-making

i enjoyed the staff
great staff and great place to work @. i wish i could have kept that position, but the hours became short once the state took over the facility

Enjoy working with the co workers whom have been there the longest
I apprenticed the knowledge and training I received from certain coworkers. I enjoyed working with others and having a great work atmosphere. I enjoyed the fast pace work. I very much liked being able to have contact with the general public and still maintain proper work ethic

It’s a good place to work
Alberta health services provides a secure environment. It’s a good place to work. Cannot really think of any cons except for the compensation which lags

Extremely poor management at Both Services, with no concise direction.
Poor initiation, no job support, basically left on my own to figure things out. Extremely poor management who did not care that there were bully employees, did nothing about them. No rhyme or reasons to decisions "Because I said so". Found management screaming at employees several times. Was not reported as most of the employees have families and needed the pay check. It seemed like an "old girls" club where its who you know not what you know. Obviously wrong people in management.
ProsAbsolutely None other than some other employees and physicians were great to work with, appreciated all efforts
ConsNo orientation, extremely poor management with no direction, only those that were in the "old girls club" succeeded, Management was "because I said so", found screaming at other employees at times, were only worried about when the food truck arrived, not taking care of patients, poor work environment.

Great place to work. Working in emerg taught me skills i thought i never had. I learnt how to be patient and how to work under pressure. The people ive met along the way have been so wonderful and welcoming.

The position was challenging and self-satisfying. Management was fantastic to work with including understanding and compassionate. The hardest part of this role was incorporating change in a challenging situation.

Interesting and challenging work
Interesting projects to work on, but under high pressure. Consultants must have ability to deal with politics and unions. Great work life balance and benefits.

Average employment opportunity, no room for growth or training.
I do administrative support, maintenance, technical support for AHS.
The job pay's well. However, there is no opportunity for growth or advancement.
Hardest part of the job is working in a solo environment while micro managing dozens of tasks that require daily upkeep.
Most enjoyable part of the job is the freedom of independence.

ConsNo room for advancement
