AIG is a genneraly a good place to work, based on the line of business you are affiliated with. Stockmarket business is very stressful.
Daily Routone for last role consisted of management of 20 employees in Amarillo and LA, up to 6 conference calls a day, long hours. Many days staff and management did not have the oppertunity to take breaks or lunch hours (staff was given options to take breaks/ lunch and the OT was not mandatory but approved by upper management) due to the nature of the business based on the stock market the team couldn't leave in the evening until all business was processed which consisted of the long hours on peak seasons throughought the year, first, second and fourth quarters were peek times.
Over 17 years of service I was able to learn all five business lines serviced by the company. I learned something new everyday and I liked that about the job. I took self motivated on-line classes up to 6 a year and attended several workshops a year. There were daily oppertunities to learn new rules and regulations which were constantly changing.
I was hired as a Manager, I never applied for jobs I was personally asked by Senior Managment to move to various lines of business, I sucessfully moved four new lines of business to the Amarillo offices from Houston and LA. Responsible for hiring, created training plans for new employees to take on the new functions to make moving business to the Amarillo offices successful. I enjoyed knowing all the managers in various departments that I had working business involvement. Traveling for new business transitions was very enjoyable.

ProsBenefits, 401 K plan, pension and generally good place to work.
ConsExtremely hectic work environment, long hours inside of the work placed and in the evenings from home, high stress for management that have teams that worked busines based on the stock market.
I'm guessing that if you're reading this, you're considering taking a job at AIG in Stevens Point as a travel insurance sales/service phone rep. They're always looking for people because they burn people out so fast. The turnover rate is horrendous. I would advise you to do everything you can to find something else. If you decide to take the job, this is what you're in for - eight hours a day of being chained to a desk, taking phone calls from crabby people who think it's your fault they had to wait on hold for 20 minutes. Better hope you have a strong bladder because if you have the audacity to go to the bathroom more than twice a day you risk having an unacceptable occupancy rating. And you'll need to keep that rating as high as possible for breathers, because once you get all your licenses the calls DO. NOT. STOP. You will be expected to take call after call after call after call after call after call after call after call. Most of these calls will involve you arguing with a customer who either thinks they know your job better than you do, or are mad because they feel the price is too high and want you to give them a special discount for being so fun to talk to. You will be surrounded by coworkers who you will never know anything about because any time you try to converse with one of them one or both of you will get a call. In the meantime you get to watch the supervisors wander around the floor, chatting and socializing with each other. Then the supervisors will call you
ProsFree food once in a while, but you won't have time to eat it because you're on the phone all day anyway.
ConsRidiculously low pay, unless you count the commission - if you're really really good, you can get up to 1% of your sales! Wowza!
I have worked for dysfunctional companies in the past. This one takes the cake.
During the recruitment and orientation processes, the thing I heard the most was about how AIG was the first company to take a bail-out from the Federal government during the Great Recession, but that they've paid it all back. They seem to be obsessed about that. However, they clearly didn't learn much from it.
The on-boarding process was a joke, despite them having had over a month to be ready for my arrival. Nothing like making someone feel welcome from the very start (did you even know I was coming?) At orientation, they didn't have my paperwork. The date my job offer specified I would receive my first paycheck, I did not. It took me well over a month to be granted access to the network resources required to perform my job.
My machine setup tasks could not be completed until after I received admin access to my own computer (which took days.) I am a software developer. I have *never* had to request admin access for my own computer. Equipment issued to me for previous positions always had at least the basic software needed installed and configured so I could be productive on the first day. Never have I held a position where it took better than two weeks before I was granted the resources required to do anything truly productive.
New project? Good luck getting anything done for at least a couple of weeks (or, on multiple occasions for me, over a month) if you need access to systems for
ProsThe salary was good (not great), benefits are pretty good, amenities are okay but mainly geared for people working in New York, "early release" the day before a major holiday, close proximity of the office to my home, option to work from home when needed, dedicated motorcycle parking
My dedication and passion is what makes me the successful employee I am today.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and work as an Executive Assistant for the Global Head of the Medical Management Services department of AIG.
Though my current role is an Executive Assistant, 90% of my responsibilities focus on analyzing financial data. My daily work flow consists of generating and creating reports through AIG's systems to determine the Global Medical Management Services department cost containment status by comparing, analyzing plans to forecast actual saving results and notifying senior management of findings.
In addition, I’m responsible of completing customer Executive Summary Overviews by capturing managed care information through AIG’s system to report quarterly results and construct graphs referring to the cost containment data captured to multiple clients.
I have learned that micro-managing and scrutinizing numbers happens to be my passion. I enjoy being given the opportunity to examine and dissect reports to salvage any financial data.
Since my manager travels 75% of the year, I have also learned that I work extremely well independently. Currently I have 1 manager and 32 amazing teammates. 29 are scattered throughout the US while the other 4 are located outside of the country; The United Kingdom, Ireland, Singapore and the Philippines.
I receive many requests from my manager and teammates, asking me to analyze or assist on certain projects. Many times, these projects require additional hours to scrutinize data in order

Don't apply run for your life
You'll receive little to no training, will be expected to meet expectations that are unattainable due to the lack of training and will be written up for not doing your job correctly. Forget about going to management for anything because you will be classified as a trouble maker. Management does nothing to correct employees who won't work and expects those who do work to pull the slack.
Gossiping from management to employees about others happens daily. Employees are unhappy and you'll see many crying at their desks each day because they don't know what to do.
Employees are like cattle who are set up to go to the butcher. There is no job security.
The company invests in employee referrals huge amounts but refuses to actually train the employees who are already there and will work on firing them or get them to quit due to performance.
Employees who have been at their job for years are paid less than a new employee that is hired.
Be ready to log all your bathroom breaks and if you are longer than what is deemed appropriate you will be written up and put on a corrective action plan.
Management isn't supposed to share with anyone who has been placed on probation status or corrective action but they do.
Management will always protect their assets and not yours and will not defend you, help you, train you or help you when you have a formal complaint to make for any kind of harassment from other employees or management. H.R. is no better at going to either.
ProsThere are no pros
ConsRead the review and beware - You will be set up for failure
Great working environment, friendly atmosphere, some unbalanced work distribution.
The job consisted in getting on your cubicle, set up your equipment software, to be ready to document all the cases you would be getting to solve. From there, you get calls from travelers in distress situations, emergencies, to change flights, find a lost luggage, passports, get medical help (different department), wire money, get roadside assistance, or simply respond to a concierge request, for instance.
There were many things I learned, from new software functionality (Sabre, Liberty, Quest), to an increase ability to multi-task while talking to customers.
The management seemed alright, I would improve the training section with much more simulation calls before letting the employee take real calls with real demands from distressed customers.
My coworkers were always busy, trying to solve problems "creatively" because there was seldom a same equal way to solve difficult situations and I would hear comments from them saying they were being in a trial by fire, referring to their little experience and huge responsibilities bestowed upon them at the same time.
All in all, the job, even though hectic, was a positive experience for the atmosphere inside the company, the chance to help people is always rewarding, despite the often lack of freedom due to policies from the several hundreds insurer accounts we had to keep up with and their own set of detailed rules and procedures for billing, charges that had to be applied on every software receiving our data input.

ProsExcellent work environment, friendly atmosphere between coworkers
ConsUnbalanced workload between departments, travel agents seem to do all the work transferred from other departments, little training time and resources, putting you on the floor to solve problems lacking knowledge
I have been working for AIG since August 30th, 2020 - two months so far! I was trained virtually and I work from home. I really appreciate the flexibility the company has given me, espcially with a husband who has cancer and cannot be exposed to covid. Also, my team has been great. My team leads are always there to help answer questions and my manager, though probably somewhat overwhelmed with the new hire questions and high volume calls, does his absolute best to support my success. I feel like there will be opportunities for growth and upward movement, although time will tell. I really enjoy problem solving and helping my customers get their issues resolved. The job is challenging but also fulfilling, and I am learning a ton about this kind of business. Even though I work from home, it's easy to tell that everyone is a team player and we care about one another. As with any company, there are a few challenges. The first challenge is that there is a ton of knowledge that I still need and would love to get some extra training in sometime. I believe the trainers did their best, but I just need some more information. There is so much I don't know! As a customer service rep, I really have to go above and beyond to get the answers that customers need - this involves pushing the service providers to get me information I need, along with utilizing all methods of communication and having great and honest follow up with customers. That can be hard to do when there is heavy call volum

ConsAngry Customers, Feeling like I need more training/knowledge.
Working for AIG has been a blessing. I have acquired a lot of various skills that I truly appreciate, especially as a recent collage graduate. These skills include learning new software such as Sharepoint, Salesforce, NETX360, FEI, Docupaste, and others. I have also learned a great deal about Retail and IRA Accounts, yearly contributions, distributions, mutual funds and various other types of financial securities. A typical workday normally consists of reviewing, processing and following up on various brokerage and non brokerage account requests, such as account maintenance, transfers, and follow up responsibilities through interacting with the clearing house, sponsor companies, financial advisors and other 3rd party entities. I also work closely with IT, compliance and our finance department to continually maintain the firm’s books & records system. Since I have been working at AIG, management has been great. They work very closely with us to ensure that we have everything necessary to fulfill our responsibilities. My coworkers are also outstanding! Considering that I am fresh out of college with minimum experience and has yet to acquire many of the skills that they had from working for AIG for years, they really took it upon themselves to make sure that the transition for me was smooth. Any time I had a questions, they were always willing to help with no problem. Many of them also had a great sense of humor, which helped the day go by. The hardest part of the job for me is
